DTU Experts Conduct Advanced Online Training on Renewable Energy for Azerbaijani Partners within the REFRESH Project
Blog post description.
Under the framework of the EU-funded REFRESH project (Erasmus+), the academic staff from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) held a series of specialized online training sessions for project partners in Azerbaijan. The seminar series aimed at transferring advanced knowledge on green energy transition, smart grid management, and sustainability.
The training program featured comprehensive presentations from five leading DTU scholars, focusing on both theoretical models and practical applications:
Professor Henrik Madsen presented on "Demand-side Flexibility and Automated Energy Markets." The session covered the technicalities of Smart-Energy OS and how flexibility functions can automate energy markets to better integrate renewable sources.
Professor Per Sieverts Nielsen discussed "Energy Planning in Denmark," providing a strategic overview of Danish energy policies, the expansion of district heating, and the operational framework of local energy communities.
Professor Mads Peter Sørensen focused on wind technology in his session, "Wind Turbines and Superconducting Generators." He shared research on 10kW superconducting generators designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of wind turbines.
Associate Professor Jan Kloppenborg Møller delivered a lecture on "Forecasting of Renewable Generation," explaining how grey-box modelling and stochastic differential equations are used to predict wind and solar power output with high precision.
Associate Professor Tobias K. S. Ritschel explored "Hierarchical Methods for Exploiting Flexible Energy Resources," highlighting real-time data assimilation and the flexible operation of district heating and carbon capture units.
By conducting these sessions online, the project continues to facilitate international knowledge exchange and strengthen the capacity of Azerbaijani academic institutions to lead the country’s sustainable energy future.
