In a significant step towards advancing green and sustainable economic improvements in Azerbaijani universities, the inaugural meeting of the Quality Assurance Board for the "Green and sustainable global economic improvement at Azerbaijani Universities: renewable energy and climate change mitigation (REFRESH)" project, funded under the Erasmus+ program KA2 activity type, was successfully conducted. The project is spearheaded by the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).

The pivotal gathering, held at an undisclosed location, brought together key stakeholders and representatives, including Rauf Mammadov, the head of UNEC's International Projects Office, and Gultaj Tahirli, a specialist from the same office. Notably, representatives from esteemed partner institutions, namely the University of Bologna, Technical University of Denmark, Royal Technical Institute, Ganja State University (GSU), and Lankaran State University (LSU), actively participated in the discussions.

The meeting focused on crucial aspects of the project's Quality Assurance (QA) framework, encompassing the formulation of an action plan, the development of a comprehensive Quality Assurance plan, and the implementation of monitoring and formative assessments at key stages of the project. These discussions aimed to ensure the seamless execution and success of the REFRESH project in line with its objectives.

One of the key highlights was the collaborative effort to delineate the division of responsibilities and tasks among the participating entities until the next meeting. This strategic planning is expected to foster efficient coordination and progress tracking, ensuring that each partner institution contributes effectively to the overall success of the project.

The REFRESH project, with a focus on renewable energy and climate change mitigation, aligns with the broader goals of sustainable development and national priorities. The Quality Assurance Board's inaugural meeting sets a solid foundation for rigorous oversight and collaboration, heralding a new era of transformative initiatives in Azerbaijani higher education. As the project unfolds, it promises to leave a lasting impact on the academic landscape, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
