Study visit
As part of the "Green and sustainable global economic improvement at Azerbaijani Universities: renewable energy and climate change mitigation – REFRESH" project, coordinated by Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), a study visit to the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden was conducted.
The visit included participants such as Rauf Mammadov, Head of the Project Management Department of UNEC's International Cooperation Department, and representatives from MDU, LDU, GDU, SDU, and Azerbaijan University of Technology.
During the five-day study visit, the delegation attended a series of events and seminars at KTH covering energy technology, environmental sustainability, and various aspects of higher education. A discussion session on the importance of Azerbaijan's chairmanship at COP29 was also organized.
On the first day of the visit, UNEC representative Rauf Mammadov gave a speech about the activities of the REFRESH project. This was followed by seminars dedicated to energy, the environment, and climate change. The local partner delegation had the opportunity to observe innovative technologies and sustainable practices firsthand by becoming familiar with the activities of KTH's Energy Technologies Department and sustainable energy engineering laboratories.
In the following days, presentations on the organization of energy research at KTH, with a particular focus on the Energy Platform, were held. Cooperation opportunities in the field of energy and climate change between the local delegation and KTH were also discussed. Topics such as digital tools and technologies in higher education, the living cities initiative, and effective public partnerships were among the issues discussed.
At the conclusion of the study visit, a management meeting for the REFRESH project was held. During the meeting, discussions took place regarding the next stages and tasks to be undertaken by the project.
